Growing up in a rural community I was absorbed by the natural world. Wildlife was abundant and I always had a pet dog as a child, one of which saved my life when I was 4, his name was Caesar, a Doberman- Pincher.  While a sleep in my crib I woke up to see smoke looming above my mother's head. The next day, I was told, Caesar had awoken my parents to save our lives. My love of animals and their abilities only grew.

My connection and love of the environment was only encouraged by my Grandfather Don. As Don had Mi'kmaq ancestry, I would fish, hunt, and fiddle head with him. There were many stories of his life in Kent and Victoria County. He would often say he belonged to The Round Church, no one understood his words, then he'd wave his hand in my direction and say, 'Toby knows'.

As I grew older, my beloved Grandfather passed away, I would often pondered over the meaning of his words, 'The Round Church'.  In time I realized The Round Church was  'Mother Earth'! Our oceans gave us life in the beginning, heaven resides in the oceans. Knowing that our God and our Planet  provide us with our needed growth in spiritually. 'It's You' will be dedicated to the One.
